PhD Clinical Neurosciences
University of Cambridge
Mariana completed her PhD in Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge, where her research focused on understanding the drivers of neuronal vulnerability in mitochondrial diseases to identify new therapeutic strategies. Before moving to the UK, Mariana earned her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Global Health from Northwestern University in the US, where she gained research experience in health policy and stem cell disease modelling. During her PhD, through interactions with patient foundations and families, she saw firsthand the impact of effective scientific communication and the important role it plays in fostering patient agency. As a Scientific Account Executive at Random42, Mariana leverages her scientific expertise to transform complex scientific concepts into accessible and engaging narratives for a wide range of audiences and therapeutic areas. Outside of work, she loves to dance, travel to new places, and read.
