At Random42, we continue to grow our outstanding team. Numerous talented individuals have joined our Random42 community, and we are thrilled to introduce those who have joined us between March and August this year.

Olive Court – Account Executive
Medical Neuroscience – University of Sussex
Olive graduated from the University of Sussex with a degree in Medical Neuroscience, during which she carried out a research project on identifying the expression patterns of glutamate receptor encoding genes. At Random42, her role involves liaising with new and existing clients on a variety of projects for pharmaceutical companies, as well as devices and diagnostics, consumer health, and animal health. Outside work, Olive enjoys travelling, spending time with friends and family, and spending long weekends in Brighton.
Charlotte Pitman – Account Executive
BSc Psychology – University of Birmingham
Charlotte graduated from the University of Birmingham after completing her degree in Psychology. Before joining Random42, Charlotte worked in various customer-facing roles and has volunteered as a mental health support worker and a developmental psychology research assistant. As an Account Executive at Random42, Charlotte’s role involves liaising with new and existing clients from the top 30 global pharmaceutical companies, helping to scope out new digital content to bring our client’s scientific storytelling to life. Outside work, she enjoys travelling, going to the gym, and spending time with friends.
Katie Walton – Scientific Account Executive
MSci (Hons) Biology – University of Nottingham
PhD Molecular Biology and Biotechnology – University of Sheffield
Katie completed her PhD at the University of Sheffield. Her research focused on the surface display of proteins and virulence factors of Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA. While studying, Katie developed skills in a wide range of bacterial molecular cloning techniques, fluorescence microscopy, and dreaded Western blots. She finished her PhD shortly before joining Random42 as part of the science team, where she writes scripts and develops storyboards for production. At Random42, Katie combines her scientific background with her creative side and applies her knowledge across a broad range of therapeutic areas. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and attending festivals, as well as exploring the bars and restaurants that London has to offer.
Mary Burke – Associate Project Manager
Biomedical Sciences – Newcastle University
Masters in Advanced Healthcare Practitioners – Reading University
Mary is an Associate Project Manager at Random42. Having studied Biomedical Sciences at Newcastle University, she then went on to do a Masters in an Advanced Healthcare Practitioner role. Mary did this for four years before deciding to change her course a little but keeping science and the fascination of its application in medicine and therapeutics at the forefront of what she does. Outside of the Random42 walls, Mary enjoys running, singing, playing the piano, and listening to many podcasts.
Paige Wilson – Marketing Executive
BSc Human Physiology, Genetics and Psychology – University of Pretoria
BSc Hons Human Physiology (Neurophysiology) – University of Pretoria
Paige graduated with a BSc in Human Physiology, Genetics, and Psychology, followed by an Honours degree in Neurophysiology at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She is passionate about combining science and marketing, leading her to join Random42 in the marketing communications team. In her free time, Paige enjoys travelling, exercising, reading, cooking, attending concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
Lily Gates – Scientific Account Executive
Biomedical Sciences – University College London
PhD in DNA Sequencing – Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health
Lily completed an undergraduate degree at UCL studying Biomedical Sciences and later completed her PhD at the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. Her PhD research focused on leveraging the potential of DNA sequencing to identify the underlying causes of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. As a Scientific Account Executive, Lily utilises her extensive scientific knowledge and works closely with colleagues to help develop engaging informative content ensuring scientific accuracy. Outside of work, Lily finds joy and fulfilment training in CrossFit and loves the mental and physical challenges that come with it. She also enjoys concerts, spending time with friends, and taking her puppy, Rolo, on beautiful long walks.
Rebecca Johnson – Junior Animator
BA (Hons) 3D Modelling and Animation – University of Hertfordshire
Rebecca studied 3D Animation at the University of Hertfordshire. She co-directed her final year film, Rise, which was awarded by the Royal Television Society and has been screened at various film festivals. After exploring various CG specialisms, she found herself most fulfilled when telling stories through motion. At Random42, Rebecca is responsible for bringing medical concepts to life with movement and particularly enjoys working with mocap suits and particle systems. In her spare time, she enjoys roller skating, digital photography, and experimenting in the kitchen.
Sonia Ho – Senior Scientific Account Executive
BSc Hons and PhD Biotechnology – University of New South Wales
Sonia is a biotechnologist with a PhD focused on scarless wound healing, which she completed in Sydney, Australia. Following her doctoral studies, she embarked on a successful career path in sales, marketing, and product management within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. Through these experiences, Sonia honed her negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Recently, she decided to transition to science communications, driven by her passion for the field and desire to be more closely connected to the world of science. Sonia assists with scientific projects spanning diverse therapeutic fields, where her responsibilities include creating scientific scripts and storyboards for production. In her free time, Sonia enjoys scuba diving, underwater rugby, cooking, reading, and watching anime.
Tom Shakespeare – Scientific Account Executive
BSc Hons Biochemistry – University of Portsmouth
MRes Science – University of Portsmouth
PhD Structural and Synthetic Biology – University of Portsmouth
Tom completed his PhD in Structural and Synthetic Biology at the University of Portsmouth, where he produced, structurally and biophysically characterized, and engineered enzymes with an ability to degrade PET plastic. After finishing his PhD, Tom gained experience in scientific publications as a Scientific and Language Editor. As part of the science team at Random42, Tom’s role includes developing and editing scripts and storyboards and liaising with production teams to help produce captivating medical animations. Outside of work, Tom enjoys playing rugby and is a keen drummer. He also likes attending live music and sporting events and going for drinks with friends.
Rosie Dean-Milward – Senior Account Executive
BSc Biochemistry – University of Warwick
Since graduating from Warwick University with a degree in Biochemistry, Rosie has gained experience in client services, marketing, events, and sales. As a Senior Account Executive, Rosie is responsible for nurturing client relationships within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries as well as attracting new clientele. Outside of work, Rosie enjoys Pilates, art, and travelling.
Andrea Veda – Junior Animator
BA (Hons) 3D Computer Animation and Modelling – University of Hertfordshire
As an international student from Indonesia, Veda graduated from the University of Hertfordshire, where she earned her BA specialising as a VFX Animator and producing short films focusing on character and creature animation. Her time and work at university have led her to become an artist at Random42. The journey to 3D started from a love of drawing at a young age that she keeps up with in her spare time. In addition to that, Veda enjoys playing music, singing, and going outdoors.
Tara Bacarese-Hamilton – Account Manager
Management and Marketing – University of Bath
Tara graduated from the University of Bath after completing a four-year degree in Management and Marketing, including a placement year at Janssen Pharmaceuticals, where she worked in the Oncology team. Tara continued working at Janssen as a Data Analyst whilst also leading Johnson & Johnson UK’s disability pillar. Her passion for mixing science and creativity is what led her to Random42. In her role as an Account Manager, Tara focuses on managing existing relationships with agencies and partnerships as well as identifying new potential clients. In her spare time, Tara loves trying out new restaurants with her friends, travelling, and dancing and she has recently joined a choir!
Oliver Soyer – Junior FX Artist
Computer Animation Technical Arts – Bournemouth University
Oliver graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Computer Animation Technical Arts, where he discovered a love for technical art, procedural animation, and simulation. After graduating, Oliver honed his Houdini and VFX skills on personal projects before joining Random42, where he hopes to improve his technical and artistic skills on varied and interesting projects. Outside of work, Oliver enjoys art, video games, cooking, and hanging out with friends.
Lounes Dala – Project Editorial Executive
BSc Life Sciences – Université Nice-Côte d’Azur
MSc Science Communication – University of Manchester
Lounes completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biology in the South of France, where he’s lived most of his life. This degree ignited his desire to pursue a Master’s in Science Communication. After his Master’s, Lounes collected multiple experiences, working in a marketing agency as a recruiter and travelling in New Zealand, Indonesia, and Australia. Thanks to the skills he has learned, he now supports the Project Edits team on various projects, ensuring a smooth process from start to finish. Outside of work, Lounes enjoys travelling, reading, and trying new food.
Rory Jarrel – Lead Web Developer
BSc 3D Modelling and Animation – Bournemouth University
Rory studied 3D Modelling and Animation at Bournemouth University then left for sunnier shores to work on commercials in Asia as a Digital Compositor. Many street vendor Pad Thais later he was prepared to take on the role of VFX supervisor and during this time he started tinkering with software development to help solve everyday problems that plagued the field. After a short stint as a professional backpacker and a flight across the Pacific, Rory found himself in the US, where he pursued web development in the architectural industry. A few years had passed, and Rory had led web and interactive projects for the likes of Four Seasons, Hudson Yards, the World Trade Center, and Howard Hughes, but it was time for a change. Full of cannoli and fond memories, a cat under his arm, and his life in a suitcase he returned to the British shores in search of a new adventure – as well as decent bacon. This time at Random42 as Lead Web Developer.
Josefina Sales Ramirez – Junior Houdini Generalist
BA (Hons) 3D Computer Animation and Modelling – University of Hertfordshire
Josefina has been interested in film and animation from a young age, first entering the field when she was 15 by creating 2D animations for urban projection mappings to exhibit on buildings. After graduating high school, Josefina decided to move to the UK to study 3D animation at the University of Hertfordshire, where she discovered Houdini and procedural modelling. Following a summer internship she completed here at Random, she is now back as a Junior Houdini Generalist, hoping to continue improving her skills and help create engaging medical visuals with the help of procedural tools. During her free time, Josefina can be found reading a book, playing the guitar, or looking longingly at cat adoption websites.
Catherine Russell – Scientific Account Executive
MBiochem in Biochemistry – University of York
PhD in Chemical Biology – University of York
Catherine completed an Integrated Masters in Biochemistry at the University of York, which included experience working in research labs investigating immunology and infection. Following her undergraduate course, Catherine stayed at the University of York, where she undertook a PhD in Chemical Biology. Her PhD project combined the fields of structural biology, parasitology, and epigenetics to investigate novel treatments for parasitic disease. At Random42, Catherine is part of the science team, where she supports projects across a range of therapeutic areas. Outside of work, Catherine likes exploring London with friends to find all the best cafes and bookshops.
Samuel Callard – Junior Project Manager
MSc Biomedical Science – Swinburne University of Technology
Samuel graduated from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, completing a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Biomedical Science. After graduating, Samuel worked in an infection science/microbiology diagnostic laboratory in both Melbourne and London. Prior to this Samuel worked for several years in Medical Administration and completed a Business Diploma at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He is now working at Random42 as a Junior Project Manager. Outside work, he enjoys playing Australian rules football, long-distance running, listening to music, and playing the piano.
Olivia Swift – Midweight Motion Graphics Designer
Graphic Communication and Illustration – University of Loughborough
Liv is a motion graphic designer who graduated from Loughborough University with a graphic communication and illustration degree. She started her career animating e-learning videos and then moved into the advertising sector before joining the Random42 team. Liv works within the 2D department, creating and motioning assets for production and marketing. In her spare time, she loves to experience London culture, going to gigs, exhibitions, the theatre, running, and yoga!
Ziwei Liu – Legal Director
Juris Doctor – University of Illinois College of Law
Ziwei is a dual-qualified lawyer in the State of New York, US, and England and Wales. She began her career as a litigation lawyer in a leading international law firm in London, focusing primarily on international arbitration and investigation. This experience immersed her in the complex world of resolving cross-border disputes and navigating the intricacies of various legal frameworks. Seeking new challenges and opportunities to expand her skill set, Ziwei transitioned to the in-house legal sphere, working at two gig economy tech platforms. In this dynamic environment, she dealt with a myriad of legal issues, including internal corporate governance, regulatory compliance, data protection, labour and employment, and contract negotiation. By collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, she developed pragmatic and commercially astute legal strategies that supported business growth while ensuring compliance with ever-evolving legal frameworks. Ziwei will oversee and manage all legal matters, ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and provide proactive legal guidance to support the company’s objectives.
Ismael Ulluso – Junior Systems Administrator
As a Junior Systems Administrator at Random42, Ismael is responsible for planning, building, and maintaining all the systems and data at Random42. He started working in IT right out of school at the age of 18. He joined Random42 after returning home from travelling in Central and South America, Ismael has returned with a fresh perspective and a renewed dedication to system functionality and user experience. Beyond his professional pursuits, Ismael unwinds by indulging in his passion for football, both as an active player and an avid spectator.
Sarah Brown – Scientific Account Executive
BSc (Hons) Anatomy and Human Biology – University of Liverpool
MSc in Reproductive and Developmental Biology – Imperial College London
PhD in Developmental Biology – Kings College London
Sarah graduated from the University of Liverpool, where she completed her BSc in Anatomy and Human Biology. She then went on to do an MSc at Imperial College London, where she studied developmental biology and regenerative medicine. Sarah then completed her PhD at King’s College London, where her research focused on bone biology, regenerative medicine, and stem cell therapies for osteoporosis. Before joining Random42, Sarah worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Cardiff University and The Royal Veterinary College London, where she continued her research in bone disease and regenerative therapeutics. At Random42, Sarah writes scripts and develops storyboards for projects that span multiple therapy areas. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys scoping out new places to eat in London and seeing live music and comedy shows with friends.
