Acute Myeloid Leukemia Animation

Scientific Animation | Investor Relations & Website Assets

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a type of blood cancer of monocyte or granulocyte cells. Using vibrant, eye-catching 3D visuals, this mechanism of action (MoA) animation explores the pathway of an investigational first-in-class, E-selectin antagonist, Uproleselan, in development for relapsed/refractory AML.

The MoA animation provides a concise overview of AML, describing it as a clonal malignant disorder that originates in the bone marrow. Here, leukemic stem cells undergo genetic and molecular changes, leading to the production of blast cells that disrupt normal hematopoiesis.

As a result, these blast cells accumulate, creating an environment that supports their survival through cytokine secretion and activation of receptors on vascular endothelial cells. This process leads to increased expression of the adhesion protein E-selectin, which enables leukemic cells to evade cytotoxic therapies effectively.

Having set the stage for the disease’s progression, the animation introduces an investigational glycomimetic compound designed to disrupt the chemoprotective mechanism provided by E-selectin and NF-κB. By doing so, the compound renders the leukemic cells more susceptible to various therapies, ultimately improving treatment outcomes and restoring healthy bone marrow.

The primary aim of this educational animation was to bring the story of E-selectin antagonism in AML to life, presenting complex scientific concepts in an engaging and easily understandable manner.
